The district has been redrawn in a way that makes it more favorable to Republicans. Nine Republicans are running, and a runoff looks likely. Recent Texas primary results also suggest a volatile midterm environment for incumbents. The redistricting and crowded GOP field point toward a Republican advantage in the district.
