Site status

Election and prediction market analytics with optional in-product feedback submission.

We provide election analytics for informational purposes and keep data collection to the bare minimum required to run the Site.

Our goal is to respect your privacy while giving you clear visibility into the limited technical information that may be processed when you browse Prediction Edge.

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit prediction-edge, including information you may submit through our feedback form. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Site.

§1

Quick summary

  • We collect the information you choose to submit through our feedback form, including your feedback text and optional email address.
  • We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Our hosting and CDN providers process basic technical data such as IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, and timestamps so that we can operate and secure the Site. Optional analytics providers are only enabled if you accept optional cookies.
  • We use a strictly necessary cookie to remember your cookie choice. Optional cookies and similar technologies remain off until you accept them as described in section 5.
  • Your privacy rights depend on where you live. See section 9 for location-specific information.
§2

What this policy covers

This Policy applies to information collected through the Site. It does not apply to third-party websites we link to, such as prediction markets or news sites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

§3

Information we collect

We receive a mix of information you submit and technical information collected automatically:

a) Device and usage data (server, CDN, and optional analytics logs)

When you load a page, our infrastructure may log IP address (which can indicate approximate location), date and time, request URL, referrer URL, user agent, pages viewed, basic interaction events, error codes, and performance metrics. If you accept optional cookies, equivalent usage data may also be processed by optional analytics providers.

b) Feedback submissions

When you submit feedback through the Site, we collect the feedback text, optional email address, the page where the form was submitted, and request metadata such as user agent and server timestamp.

c) Aggregated or de-identified data

We may create aggregated statistics such as total page views or most visited charts. We take steps so this data cannot reasonably be linked to an identified person.

§4

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Operate and deliver the Site and its content.
  • Protect the Site, including fraud and abuse detection, troubleshooting, and debugging.
  • Measure and improve performance and usability, such as page load times and feature interest.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, our legal bases include legitimate interests (running a secure, useful website and security logging) and legal obligation (security and compliance). Where consent is required, such as for non-essential cookies, similar technologies, and optional analytics, we will seek it first.

§5

Cookies and similar technologies

Prediction Edge sets one strictly necessary first-party cookie to remember whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies. Optional cookies and similar technologies stay disabled until you click “Accept all cookies” in the consent banner or cookie settings. If you reject optional cookies, we stop writing the optional browser storage we manage and clear those managed values, including saved chart comparison selections.

If we enable analytics providers such as Google Analytics in the future, they will only run after you accept optional cookies. We will configure privacy safeguards such as IP truncation or anonymization when available and will not use analytics for targeted advertising. You can revisit your choice at any time from Cookie Settings in the footer.

§6

When we disclose information

We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose limited information to:

  • Service providers who host the Site, deliver content, provide security, or perform analytics. They act under confidentiality commitments and only for these services.
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • Successors in a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale. We will take steps to ensure the successor honors this Policy.
§7

Data retention

  • Server and CDN logs are retained for ninety days unless we need them longer for investigations or law.
  • Analytics data is retained for twenty-four months, or the shortest period supported by the provider.
  • Feedback submissions are retained according to operational and legal needs and deleted when no longer required.
  • Aggregated statistics may be kept longer because they cannot reasonably identify you.

We keep data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.

§8

Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including TLS encryption in transit, least privilege access, and log minimization. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

§9

Your rights and choices

Your privacy rights depend on your location. Contact us at contact@predictionnews.com to exercise applicable rights. We may need to verify your request.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)

You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time from Cookie Settings in the footer. You can also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

United States (for example CA, CO, CT, UT, VA)

We collect identifiers such as IP address and internet or network activity such as pages viewed for the purposes in section 4. We retain and disclose this data as explained in sections 6 and 7. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and do not process sensitive personal information.

You may have rights to know or access, correct, delete, and opt out of sale or share (not applicable here). If you use a Global Privacy Control signal we treat it as an opt out of sale or share. We will not deny services or provide different pricing for exercising your rights.

Other locations

We will honor applicable local rights. If you have questions, please reach out.

§10

International transfers

We are based in the United States and may use providers around the world. If your data is transferred outside your jurisdiction, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or comparable mechanisms and assess our providers' security practices.

§11

Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA or UK). If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can delete it.

§12

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory changes. When we post updates, we will revise the effective date and provide additional notice where required.
