The Massachusetts GOP gubernatorial field had a debate in New Bedford featuring Brian Shortsleeve and Mike Kennealy. Candidate Mike Minogue was expected to skip that debate and attend a separate forum nearby instead. The debate keeps Shortsleeve and Kennealy in focus and could marginally help whichever is seen as performing better. Minogue skipping may add uncertainty about his campaign strength or strategy.
