He earned a B.S. from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and has worked as an accountant. In 2018, he was convicted on federal felony charges; his prison sentence was commuted by President Donald J. Trump on 2020-12-22.
Advocates for lower taxes and opposing tax increases, has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge committing to oppose marginal tax-rate increases and large net elimination of deductions, and has supported tax policies intended to encourage business and reduce tax burdens.
