Notable personal detailsRick Jakious is a Democratic candidate for U.S. House in Massachusetts’s 6th Congressional District in the 2026 cycle. He previously served for years on Rep. Seth Moulton’s staff, including as district director (2015–2022) and later chief of staff (beginning in 2022). Jakious has also worked in nonprofit leadership, including serving as chief executive of the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network, and he has been active in local civic life in Swampscott.
The candidate has proposed targeted taxes on large social-media companies’ profits and emphasized economic policies to support small businesses and families; he has also represented nonprofit interests and cautioned against shifting municipal burdens onto nonprofits. Available public materials do not present a consistent, comprehensive position on broader tax-rate changes for wealthy individuals or corporations.
Supports expanding access to health care in Massachusetts and has served on the Massachusetts Health Connector board to help prepare and preserve access to affordable coverage. Has participated in advocacy and advisory roles on state-level efforts to expand coverage for low-income residents and seniors.
Supports protecting asylum-seekers and opposes harsh enforcement practices such as family separations and aggressive ICE actions; frames immigration with a humanitarian, welcoming approach while acknowledging enforcement agencies exist. Advocates for policies that help immigrants and families rather than punitive separation.
