After leaving elected office, he pursued theological studies and earned a Master of Divinity from General Theological Seminary, and later worked in workforce development and reentry services, including as executive director/chair of the New Jersey Reentry Corporation. He ran for Mayor of Jersey City in 2025 and lost to James Solomon in the December 2025 runoff.
