Christine Drazan’s primary win sets up a rematch with Gov. Tina Kotek, giving traders a fresh, concrete general-election matchup to price after the Republican field cleared. Oregon remains a strong Democratic state, but the nomination removes uncertainty on the GOP side and keeps the race in focus.
Republican candidate Chris Dudley got a major boost with a $1 million donation from Nike co-founder Phil Knight, the biggest single contribution reported in the 2026 Oregon governor race. Overall fundraising among leading candidates totals about $3.1 million ahead of the May 19 primary, including significant money for Gov. Tina Kotek. Lawmakers also passed a bill delaying contribution limits until 2027, pending Kotek’s decision. The $1M Knight donation could boost Dudley and slightly strengthen the GOP’s outlook, though the overall effect on the general-election party outcome is still unclear. The campaign finance bill could increase fundraising uncertainty for both parties depending on whether it is signed.
The contribution is by far the largest to any candidate for governor this year.
